Dialects and Dialectics:
East Asian Dialogues in Law and Society
Dates: 30 September – 1 October 2011
Venue: Yonsei University, Seoul, South Korea
Organizers: CRN East Asian Law and Society (Law and Society Association)and the Korean Society for the Sociology of Law
The Collaborative Research Network (CRN) on East Asian Law and Society (CRN-EALS) and the Korean Society for the Sociology of Law are delighted to announce that the Second East Asian Law and Society Conference will be held on 30 September and 1 October 2011 in Seoul, Korea on the campus of Yonsei University. Scholars, practitioners, researchers and PhD candidates are welcome to participate. The theme for the Seoul Conference will be Dialects and Dialectics: East Asian Dialogues in Law and Society. Participants need not be a member of the CRN-EALS or of the Korean Society for the Sociology of Law to attend the Conference. Organizers sincerely hope that the success of the Inaugural Conference held at the University of Hong Kong in 2010 will be repeated.
CRN-EALS was formed within the Law and Society Association (LSA) to provide a forum for promoting research on law and society in East Asia and disseminating findings to a wider community of socio-legal scholars. Both Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia are covered under this CRN. It welcomes scholars conducting research on East Asia, and others wishing to enrich their research and theories with findings from the region. CRN-EALS seeks to be an institutional base for regional LSA meetings to be held on a regular basis. The second conference in Seoul is organized with this vision in mind, following in the footsteps of the first conference in Hong Kong.
